Birds of a feather flock together.
Today, Congressman Byron Donalds is joining Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith on a Keystone Heights campaign stop. Sheriff Smith is a well-known and outspoken supporter of recreational marijuana. This is an unacceptable position.
Recent studies on the damaging, permanent effects of unfettered marijuana use have reinforced concerns that pot is causing an epidemic of psychoses, schizophrenia, cognitive decline, and suicide ideation.
This joint appearance between Donalds and the Sheriff, combined with Donalds’ legislative effort to lessen the sentences for drug dealers, his unwillingness to lead the effort to defeat Amendment 3 in 2024, and his refusal to speak out against rescheduling marijuana at the federal level speaks volumes about Donalds’ views.
By contrast, Paul Renner has opposed recreational marijuana, assisted in preventing the effort to reduce sentences for drug dealers, and helped lead the effort to defeat Amendment 3.
So today, we strongly encourage the press to ask Byron Donalds two questions:
Are you opposed to recreational marijuana?
Will you reject any donations from special interests attempting to pass recreational marijuana in Florida?
Voters deserve to know.
