Paul Renner for Governor Unveils Florida First Affordability Plan

Comprehensive Economic Proposal for Better Paying Jobs and Lower Costs to Empower Working Families

Today, gubernatorial candidate and former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner unveiled his Florida First Affordability Plan— a bold, blueprint for better paying jobs and lower costs to secure long-term prosperity and affordability.

The plan focuses on five critical areas: property taxes, insurance and litigation abuse, healthcare, education, and creating more jobs with better incomes.

“Florida stands at a pivotal moment. Families across this great state are working harder than ever; yet, financial freedom seems unattainable. They are crippled by the higher costs of everyday goods, record housing prices, and incomes that can’t keep up. The Florida First Affordability Plan seeks to deliver real relief and chart a path toward a stronger, more affordable Sunshine State— where hard work is rewarded, government is accountable, and the ‘Florida Dream’ is within reach for every resident,” said Paul Renner.

Key Components of the Florida First Affordability Plan:

  • Immediate rollback of property taxes via legislative action
  • Cap future taxes to ensure government cannot grow faster than Floridians’ incomes
  • Require 2/3 supermajority vote of local government for any new or increased tax or fee with subsequent referendum, for voters to approve or reject measure
  • Protect seniors through property tax abatement (Save Our Seniors)
  • Property tax protection for first-time homebuyers
  • Offer voters a plan to fully eliminate homestead property taxes while protecting funding for essential local services such as public safety and schools
  • Stop private equity from buying up homes and raising prices
  • End nuclear verdicts and lawsuit abuse that increase premiums
  • Reform litigation financing
  • Expand home hardening programs to provide premium reductions
  • Enforce insurer accountability to protect consumers and expedite claims payment
  • Insist Congress repeal Obamacare, ending costly mandates; and return control to the states
  • Implement the Florida Health Freedom and Wellness Initiative
  • Promote high-quality healthcare options that put patients in control and reduce costs without expanding government
  • Expand the healthcare workforce for better access and lower costs
  • No in-state tuition increases
  • End admissions for international students from adversarial countries (e.g., China)
  • Require universities to adjust degree programs disrupted by AI, so all degrees lead to a great job
  • Protect universal school choice scholarships that reduce education costs for Florida families
  • Regulatory reforms to unleash small business hiring
  • Protect Florida workers by ending H-1B visa hires for state employees and procurement
  • Expand vocational, technical, and trade education for higher wage jobs
  • Support apprenticeships for all skilled trades

“We can provide residents with lower costs and a business climate that creates jobs with better incomes,” Renner added. This plan begins with an immediate and overdue property tax rollback, through legislative action. This will ease the financial burden of hardworking taxpayers across the state while we await long-term reforms that require constitutional amendment a year from now. Along with reforms to lower insurance, healthcare, and education costs, we will make Florida affordable and remove the spikes in prices that are crushing family budgets.

“Democrats offer nothing but the failed promises of socialism. Our Florida First Affordability Plan is built on fiscal responsibility, consumer protection, and job creating policies. Floridians deserve a Florida First governor with a real leadership background and proven results who can turn promises into reality. Endless social media posts and interviews from other candidates won’t get it done. Our plan will lower costs, strengthen communities, and open doors for every Floridian to succeed,” Renner concluded.
