Statewide coalition focused on advancing policies that protect parental rights and secure educational freedom for Florida families
PALM COAST, FL— Ahead of the Florida Parent Educators Association Convention (FPEA), Paul Renner for Governor is launching Parents for Renner, a statewide coalition committed to growing educational opportunities for families across Florida.
The coalition, made up of parents, educators, community leaders and advocates is bringing together families who believe parents, not government bureaucrats, should direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children.
Parents for Renner will advocate for policies including school choice, homeschooling freedom, and protecting educational pathways for all students and their specific needs. The group also supports Renner’s proposed Florida Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment, a measure years in the making, to permanently protect these freedoms in the state Constitution.
Renner’s proposed Florida Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment states:
- The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children is a fundamental right.
- The parental right to direct education includes the right to choose, as an alternative to public education, private, religious, or home school, and the right to make reasonable choices within public schools for one’s child.
- Neither the State nor any subdivision thereof shall infringe these rights without demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.
- The parental rights guaranteed by this article shall not be denied or abridged on account of disability.
“Parents know their children better than anyone else, and they deserve a candidate that will empower families and protect their choices,” said Patti Sullivan, State Coordinator for Parental Rights Florida. “Our coalition will work to share this message of opportunity while supporting long-term constitutional protections for parental rights against government intrusion.”

Geared to engage communities through grassroots outreach, educational forums, and advocacy efforts, the Parents for Renner Coalition will mobilize voters and make educational freedom, as well as constitutional protections for parental rights, a defining issue in the Governor’s race.
During his time leading the Florida House, Paul Renner delivered universal school choice with HB1, provided flexible learning options for homeschooling and hybrid-learning families, and reduced regulations on public schools to expand alternative educational pathways.
“Florida has led the nation in putting parents first and securing educational freedom,” Paul Renner said. “I’m proud to stand with the parents and families fighting to ensure every child has access to a quality education tailored to their unique needs. These individuals represent the kind of grassroots leadership that will continue moving our state forward in education. By protecting parental rights in our Constitution, we can and will ensure these freedoms are preserved for future generations of Florida families.”
